Young man dies after horror weekend crash

One of the six young people involved in a horrific car crash in Cavan last weekend has died in hospital.

Cormac Murphy of Cloughbally Upper, Mullagh, lost his fight for life earlier today at Dublin's Beaumont Hospital.

The 20-year old is sadly missed by his parents Fergus and Bernie, sister Andrea and step sister Rachel

Cormac was seriously injured in the accident alongside five others when their car hit a ditch at Rantavan, near Mullagh at 5.30am last Sunday.

The friends were travelling in a black Volkswagen saloon car along the Claddagh Road when the crash happened.

Friends Pete Rogers, Mark O'Brien, Edward O'Brien and Cormac Murphy, from Moynalty, Co Meath, were treated at hospitals in Dublin.

Their friends, Shauna Daly, from Kells, Co Meath, and Noel Lynch from Kingscourt, Co Cavan, were treated at Cavan General Hospital.

Friends of Mr Murphy have already being paying heartbroken tributes on his Facebook page.

One friend posted: "Rest in peace Cormac. Such a lovely, bubbly lad, taken too soon."

Another added: "Heaven gained an angel, sleep tight."

Funeral arrangements are being finalised
