Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the single vehicle fatal traffic collision in County Mayo.
At approximately 10.30pm, a 19-year-old man was seriously injured when the car he was driving struck a wall on the N84 at Carrowmore, near Ballinrobe.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and the local coroner was notified.
The body of the deceased was removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A passenger in the car, a man in his late teens, was taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The road is closed to traffic and diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene.

A total of seven people lost their lives on Irish roads over the weekend.
At approximately 10.30pm last night, a 70-year-old man was fatally injured when the SUV he was driving was involved in a collision with a jeep. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Sligo General Hospital.
The three other passengers in the SUV, one male and two female, were taken to Sligo General Hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, the jeep, were also taken to Sligo General Hospital with injuries described as minor.
This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Elsewhere in Donegal, a 19-year-old man lost his life after the car in which he was travelling left the road in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at Tooban, Burnfoot, Co. Donegal at approximately 4.30am.
The male driver and female passenger, also both aged 19, were rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital. The young woman is understood to be in a serious condition.
Five other men lost their lives in three other separate collisions over the weekend.
Three men died following a collision on the A1 between Banbridge and Dromore in Co Down. A motorcyclist was also killed in a collision in Cork.
