Wreckage found in search for microlight that vanished yesterday
Wreckage has been found by rescuers investigating the disappearance of a microlight which took off from City of Derry airport yesterday.
Two of the aircraft took off from the airport flying to Scotland at around 11am yesterday.
One of the aircraft made it to Scotland, however the other did not.
A search was launched, but was suspended at around 4am this morning due to heavy fog.
The wreckage was found today off the coast of Antrim by a Dublin couple who were holidaying on their yacht.
The aircraft was last seen near Cushendun.
The search for the two passengers is ongoing.
Belfast Coastguard is coordinating the search with the help of the Irish Coastguard, the UK Coastguard and the Community Rescue Service who are using thermal imaging equipment.
