World’s biggest internet porn company now based in Dublin

FOR get Apple, Twitter and Intel, Ireland’s business-friendly tax laws have attracted the world’s biggest porn company.

While Taoiseach Enda Kenny has praised our cosy relationship with Apple, he has failed to mention our porn peddling pulling power.

This is the world’s leading pornographer, whose firm has put Ireland at the centre of the global internet porn industry.

Andreas Andreou is the managing director of Mindgeek, which adds an incredible half a billion euro to the Irish economy.

Based in Dublin’s Silicon Docks, the low-profile firm is now the dominant porn peddler in the world, with an estimated 100 million daily visitors to its sites.

Mindgeek controls many of the leading websites in the massive ‘adult content’ market, including Pornhub, RedTube and YouPorn.

Sales worth a staggering €352m have been clocked up in its first two years since setting up shop on the Liffey quays.

However, would-be porn stars in Ireland shouldn’t get too excited, with the majority of content still produced by studios in the U.S.

Most porn movies now end up on Mindgeek websites such is their dominant position in the market, according to various reports.

The firm is known for its hard-nosed approach to business and has been at both ends of lawsuits in the U.S.

Its directors in Ireland are Andreou, who lives in Milltown, and businessman John O’Shea, with an address in Offington Avenue, Sutton. Sergiu Graur, a website expert based in Cyprus, is the third director of the mega firm.

In Ireland, demand for online porn has been growing steadily and according to Pornhub the nation has the fourth most visitors per capita on the planet, with over 120 million visits in 2015.

The increasing mainstream use of pornography in Ireland is causing some concern about how it might affect young people.

This week a study by academics at University College Cork was published, in which it emerged parents are worried about the effects of porn, especially on boys.

In the meantime business looks brisk for the world’s porn merchants, who have constantly been at the leading edge when it comes to making money online.

A recent report from Deloitte Global predicted 2016 to be the year ‘virtual reality’ finally generates a billion dollars and porn sites will be leading the charge. This includes using headsets and sensor gloves.

Again Pornhub is leading the way as the first adult website to offer a free virtual reality channel.

Some cyber experts predict that this will eventually see ‘sex robots’ becoming commercially viable.
