Woman dead in Antrim house fire

A woman has died in a house fire in Antrim.

The victim, in her 50s, has been named as local woman Susan Melvin.

Ms Melvin was discovered dead in the house after fire crews were called to the scene at around 6pm on Monday.

Forensic examinations are to take place today (Tues) and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

UUP councillor for Antrim and Newtownabbey, Adrian Cochrane-Watson, said: "I grew up several streets away from here. This is a very tight, very respectful community.

"Everyone knows everyone."

He added that the community is "total shock".
