No jail for pensioner who had sex with St Bernard, Alsatian and labrador

A woman who was filmed having sex with dogs has avoided jail after telling police she did not know it was illegal.

The Mirror reports on the case of Carol Bowditch, from Evedon in Lincolnshire in the UK, who appeared before Lincoln Crown Court yesterday accused of having sex with a St Bernard, an Alsatian and a labrador.

A police investigation into a man they believed was hosting bizarre sex parties led them to visit Bowditch's home.

There they discovered a DVD and a USB with video footage of her engaging in sexual activity with dogs.

The Mirror quotes the prosecution who told the court: "Those images portrayed persons committing penetrative sexual acts with dogs. Also included were images of this defendant herself carrying out sexual activity.

"Included was an eight minute and 59 seconds video of Mrs Bowditch engaging in vaginal and oral sex with a St Bernard dog named Oscar.

"When the defendant was interviewed she admitted she had penetrative sex with dogs.

"She accepted it had taken place over several years. She was unaware it was illegal."

Bowditch, 64, admitted to a charge of having sex with an animal and also admitted to possession of extreme pornographic images.

However, she claimed that she didn't realise that having sex with dogs was illegal.

Daniel Galloway, who lives at the same address, admitted aiding and abetting Bowditch to have intercourse with an animal.

He also admitted a number of charges relating to child pornography and he will be sentenced at a later date.

Bowditch, who had no previous convictions, could have faced two years in jail for having sex with a dog but was instead handed a community order to be supervised for 12 months and a four-month night-time curfew.

Judge Michael Heath said that the acts committed by Bowditch were 'unlawful' and 'disgusting'.
