Pregnant woman airlifted to hospital following serious two-car collision

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after a serious two-car collision on the N20 between Cork and Limerick.

It is understood that the woman is pregnant.

Two other women have also been brought to Cork University Hospital with injuries.

There were two cars involved in the collision; two of the injured women were travelling in one car and the third woman was the sole occupant of the other car.

The accident occurred on the Buttevant to Charleville Road which remains closed in both directions, gardai said. The cars collided at approximately 11am, gardai added. 

The collision occurred near an accident black spot on the N20.

Gardai are currently at the scene and the condition of the woman who was airlifted to hospital is unknown.
