Freezing weekend ahead as temperatures set to plummet

It’s going to be an awful weekend with miserable, wet, windy and cold weather on the cards for the nation.

Temperatures are set to plummet as Met Eireann predicts terrible conditions over the coming days.

There will be some rain and drizzle this morning, turning to more showery weather later in the day and a chance of hail and some snow in northern areas.

It’s to be windy with temperatures between 4-7 C and frost is set to develop overnight in sheltered areas.

However, Saturday will be much worse, with freezing temperatures predicted combined with strong winds and persistent showers.

It’s going to be much colder on Saturday than it has been all week with temperatures between 3-7 C.

Sunday will be wet and wild with strong to gale force winds, combined with heavy rain which will bring a risk of spot flooding.
