WARNING: Food Safety Authority of Ireland issues food recall

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued a warning about a batch of licorice root which contains a high level of toxin.

Independent Irish Health Foods Ltd is currently recalling a batch of its licoride root, which is sold in numerous health food shops throughout Ireland.

High levels of the toxin Ochratoxin A were discovered in the product.

A spokesperson for the FSAI said that only certain batches were contaminated and that someone would have to eat a lot of the licorice to get sick.

Point of sale recall notices will be displayed in the shops where the implicated batches were sold.

The affected batch has best before dates from 19/01/17 to 22/05/17
