Warm weekend ahead as temperatures set to soar
Prepare the boarding parties to besiege your local beer garden as temperatures are set to tip 20 degrees this weekend.
Despite last week’s snow and hail showers, Ireland’s spate of cold weather looks to be over as Met Eireann is predicting temperatures to remain in the mid to high teens throughout the week and peaking at 21 degrees this weekend.
Met Eireann’s Evelyn Cusack said that a warm front coming in from France is to thank for the nice summer weather.
“I know we had snow last week but it looks like things will heat up to around 19 degrees this week, with chances of it getting up to 20 and 21 on Sunday," she said.
“The reason we saw snow and colder weather last week was because the air was literally coming down from the North Pole, but there has now been a shift in that.
“This week we will get a continental air mass which will naturally bring with it much warmer weather and sunny spells.”
But, as usual, there is still a chance of some rain and today will remain cloudy with temperatures remaining under 15 degrees.
Tomorrow will be dry and sunny with light winds while a spell of rain is expected on Friday, however temperatures will remain high.
