A man wanted by police over an alleged assault contacted the cops on Facebook and asked then to take down his 'unflattering' mugshot.

The BBC report that Wayne Esmonde replied to a Facebook post of his mugshot on South Wales Police's Facebook page.

 "I am him," Esmonde said.

"Not a very flattering mugshot.

"I'd appreciate it if you'd take this post down. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

"I've spoken to my solicitor and they will advise me what to do next. Thanks."

The BBC report that the 35-year-old, wanted in connection with an assault on July 18, walked in to Swansea Central police station on Thursday to hand himself in.
