Emma Murphy, whose Facebook video about domestic abuse went viral this week, spoke to TV3 today about her decision to go public, the support she has received and her advice for people affected by the video.

In her first television interview, Emma tells Midday’s Elaine Crowley of her ordeal and why she decided to go public with the video: “It’s so hard because every woman wants the perfect family. No family’s perfect but looking at my little boy, it kills me. I’m so saddened because they’re not going to have their mammy and daddy anymore together.”

“In my head I knew I needed to get away from this. It was very unhealthy. I knew I needed to break away. I needed to be a good role model for my kids and I needed the strength from somewhere and by posting the video that I did I’ve reached so many people. People all around the world are contacting me saying ‘thank you’, ‘thank you’”.

Emma's video, posted on Monday evening, has now been seen by over seven million people and her story has been picked up all over the globe.
