UPDATE: Man (22) detained as missing teenager girls traced
Police who launched an "extensive" search for two schoolgirls after they went missing have traced them and arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the incident.
Sammy Clarke, 14, and Siobhan Clarke, 15, left school early on Friday to meet up with their friend Kieran Hartley-Anderson, Essex Police said yesterday.
Officers believed the girls, from the Maldon area of the county, met Mr Hartley-Anderson at a house in Shoeburyness, around 15 miles away on the coast near Southend.
They had not been seen since leaving to go to a local park that night until they were traced earlier this morning.
Police said they were "extremely concerned" for the pair's welfare after they hadn't been seen in three days.
Essex Police said they were found safe and well by police officers in Hamlet Court Road, near Southend, at just after 10am today.
A police spokesman added: "We are also no longer searching for Keiran Hartley-Anderson, 22. He was also found in Hamlet Court Road.
"A 22-year-old man from the Southend area has been arrested in connection with this incident.
"Many thanks to everyone who shared our appeal."
