A man and a woman have been arrested by police investigating the murder of Michael McGibbon in North Belfast earlier this year.

The father of four died after being shot in the leg in Butler Place in the city on April 15.

The man and woman - both 35 - have been taken Musgrave Street police station for questioning.

It is believed the attack on the 33-year-old was a so-called 'punishment shooting'.

It happened at around 10.05pm near Elmfield Street.

Mr McGibbon was rushed to hospital but later died.

As he was bleeding to death, his wife, Joanne, tried desperately to save him.

It was the day of his daughter's 17th birthday.

Mr McGibbon had no previous criminal record and no apparent criminal connections.
