Two arrested in connection with violent burglary of elderly woman
Two men aged 23 and 21 years have been arrested in connection with the violent burglary of and 89-year-old woman in Bray Co Wicklow.
Eva Sutton was left with a punctured lung, broken ribs and a broken nose after she was robbed and beaten on the 10th of September.
The thugs subjected Mrs Sutton to a horrific 30-minute beating that left her in need of hospital care.
Her daughter Amanda told the Herald about the ordeal:
"They broke in through the front door, they tied her up and then they left her black and blue.
"They wanted money and jewellery and they kept beating her," she said.
The thieves eventually left with some of her jewellery.
After the thugs made their escape, Mrs Sutton managed to make her way out onto the street to seek help.
Shockingly, a man who was standing just across the road at a bus stop ignored her desperate cries.
Emergency services were eventually called and Ms Sutton was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital,
The two men arrested this morning are currently detained at Bray Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
