A man and a woman were arrested after a massive quantity of heroin was seized in south Dublin

A car was stopped just off Sandymount Road, Dundrum yesterday, May 24.

The car was searched by Gardaí and approximately one kilo of heroin (pending analysis) with a street value of €140,000 was discovered.

A man aged 32 and a female  aged 17 who were in the car were arrested and taken to Blackrock Garda station where they were detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

During a follow up search of a house at Ballyogan Green, Carrickmines another kilo of heroin (pending analysis) with a street value of €140,000 was discovered.

The female has since been released, with a file being prepared for the DPP, the male remains in custody.

UPDATE: 7.59am:

Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau have charged the man in connection with the seizure.

He will appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court today at 10.30am.
