Gardai investigating after armed and masked men attempt bank robbery
Gardai are investigating after an attempted robbery at a bank in Dunboyne, Co Meath earlier this morning.
At around 9am two men wearing hoods and masks broke through the roof of the Bank of Ireland on the main street and threatened frightened staff with firearms.
After attempting to open a safe they soon gave up their efforts and sped away in a silver car, thought to be a Hyundai.
Gardai later discovered the vehicle abandoned on Summerhill Road just outside the village.
Gardai are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them at Ashbourne Garda Station on 01 8010600.
