Tributes pouring in following tragic death of popular councillor
Tributes have been poured in following the death of a popular Fianna Fail councillor overnight.
Cllr Fergie Keohoe was found dead in his home at Fisher's Row on Saturday morning.
Tributes have poured in for the popular councillor on social media this afternoon, with many describing their sadness following the passing of the much-loved councillor.
Leading the tributes Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Councillor Tony Dempsey, described him as a 'generous, caring and committed public representative, whose tragic and untimely passing has deeply saddened his countless friends and colleagues from inside and outside the political arena.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Frances, his son Oisín, and his extended family, at this most difficult time.'
One social media user described Cllr Kehoe as "one of the good ones".
TD Marc MacSharry, who is based in the north-west of the country, said he was "saddened" to hear the news and his thoughts were with his family, friends and colleagues.
Fianna Fáil TD for Meath East Thomas Byrne said he was "shocked" to hear of Cllr Kehoe's sudden death.
Former Mayor for Wexford Cllr Joe Ryan said Cllr Kehoe was "passionate about Wexford".
Another local described his death as a "real tragedy", while one journalist described him as a "fine man and spirit".
