A British tourist has been slapped with a hefty fine after he stunned other passengers when he got off a three-hour Ryanair flight to Italy and pooed on the runway.

The disgusting incident happened in Brindisi airport after a Ryanair flight from Manchester landed there on September 30.

According to a report in the Sun today the man, aged in his 60s, shocked other passengers with his actions as he pulled down his pants and defecated on the runway after getting off the plane. He is then reported to have calmly pulled up his pants and walked to passport control.

There he was stopped by Italian police, who slapped him with an on-the-spot fine of €3,300 for a public decency offence.

Italian media report that the fine was paid in full the next day.

The Sun quotes a local police chief called Mario Marcone, who said: 'We will not tolerate this sort of behaviour. There was no need for him to do what he did.'

A paper also quotes a spokesperson for Ryanair who said: 'An individual was detained by local police at Brindisi Airport on September 30. This is a matter for local police.'
