Three punters bash bookies for 21k backing numbers in Lotto
Three punters in Wexford bashed a local bookie over the weekend – by backing the same four numbers in the Lotto draw and scooping a hefty €21,007.
Three customers backed the four numbers to come up (which were 9-13-21-23), with one placing a fiver on it – which costs €15 to play - and the other two placing €1 bets, costing €3.
The first punter netted a tasty €15,005, while the other two took the Boylesports bookmaker for €3,001 in the Lotto Plus 2 draw.
Smiling through the pain, Liam Glynn, BoyleSports’ spokesperson, said: “There was definitely something in the air in Wexford on Saturday night as three lucky punters turned small stake Lotto bets into a combined pay-out of €21,007.
“We wish all three winners happy spending with their winnings and, no doubt with the Irish Lotto cost set to go up next month, we will see plenty of interest in our number bets as it will still cost the same stake to play with us.”
From next month, the price of a minimum two-line entry will increase from €3 to €4 – which means, when the extra Lotto Plus option is included, tickets for the draws will now cost €5.
