Three-car collision kills one person while two more are hospitalised

Gardaí in Thomastown are appealing for witnesses to a fatal traffic collision which happened this morning.

At approximately 10.55am a 68-year-old male, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was fatally injured after being involved in a three car collision.

The man was treated at the scene by emergency services but died a short time later.

His body has been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.

Two other males were brought to St Lukes Hospital with what is believed to be non life threatening injuries.

The road is closed and local diversions are in place. Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene.

The coroner has been notified.

In Tipperary, a man in his 70s died after the car he was driving collided with a concrete pier this morning.
