A child and three adults have been rescued from a sinking pleasure boat in the Irish sea.

Belfast Coastguard said it received a call at 1.10am to say that a boat was in trouble between Northern Ireland and the isle of Man.

A fishing boat from Kilkeel, County Down, was the first on the scene and stood-by until until rescue helicopters from the Navy and Prestwick Coastguard arrived.

A Belfast Coastguard spokesman said there were four people on board.

The vessel was escorted to Peel on The Isle of Man.
