Teenager dies after attending final night of legendary superclub
A teenage clubber is dead and a man is in a critical condition after they attended the final night at legendary club venue Cream in Liverpool.
The Liverpool Echo are reporting that emergency services were called to the club at 3.30am this morning near the end of the final ever night at the famous venue.
A 19-year-old man was feeling unwell and he was taken to hospital, where he died later.
A man in his 40s also fell ill and he is in a critical condition in hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Ephgrave is quoted in the paper: “At this stage of the investigation, we are exploring a number of lines of inquiry and it is unclear if both men took illegal substances. The men were not in a group together.
“We are continuing our investigations today but would like to take this opportunity to remind people of the dangers of taking illegal drugs.
“Our message is clear, it is not only illegal to buy and sell drugs but it can also be very dangerous and potentially fatal. We would urge people not to be tempted to take illegal drugs - you don’t know what they are made of, where they have come from or what effects they may have on you.”
Cream is shutting down for at least a year while a huge redevelopment takes place. Shops, a cafe and a new underground venue for the club will be built after the existing building is knocked down.
