Teenage cyclist dies following horror collision
The 13 year old male cyclist seriously injured in a collision on Saturday has died as a result of his injuries.
He died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda last night.
On Saturday at approximately 8.30pm Gardai from Drogheda attended the scene of a collision between a motor car and a pedal cyclist on N51, Slane Road, Drogheda, Co. Louth.
The 13 year old male cyclist was conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda after suffering serious injuries.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Less than a fortnight ago on August 10, a man in his 40s was killed after being knocked down nearby on the Slane Road.
In May, the Tullyallen Cumann of Fianna Fáil began a campaign for safety measures to be put in at the junction after a driver had to be cut from their vehicle.
Local councillor Tommy Byrne said: "It is a very fast, busy road."
