Teenager killed in early-morning crash 'may have been lying on road'
GARDAI are investigating the death of a teenager in Co Clare early on Tuesday.
The alarm was raised at around 6.40am when a motorist reported she had collided with something on a country road near Killimer.
The woman stopped her car and returned to the scene, where she found a 15-year-old boy lying injured on the roadside.
It is understood the victim may have been lying on the roadside or suffered a fall before the car collided with him. Gardai and ambulance paramedics rushed to the scene.
The victim was later pronounced dead and his body removed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will take place this evening.
Gardai will await the results of the post-mortem before they determine the course of their investigation.
It's hoped the autopsy will tell gardai whether the victim died as a result of being struck by the vehicle.
The road at the scene remains closed while a technical examination takes places.
