Storm Eva leaves 2000 without power

Almost 2,000 homes and businesses in Ireland are without electricity this morning after Storm Eva damaged power lines.

The storm caused power cuts across the country, with Baltrasna in Co Meath and Ballymun in Dublin among the hardest hit.

There are also smaller outages in Enniscorthy in Co Wexford, Fermoy in Co Cork, and Ardfinnan near Clonmel in Tipperary.

ESB Network crews worked through the night to repair power lines which at one stage left 6,000 properties in darkness.

Two Irish Ferries sailings from Dublin to Holyhead have been cancelled and a third delayed due to bad weather on the Irish Sea.

About 800 homes and businesses remain without power following damage caused to power lines by Storm Eva.
