A man has died in a second gun attack in Dublin city last night.

The incident happened in the Kilcronan area of Clondalkin, West Dublin at around 11.45pm.

The man (37) was gunned down in the hallway of his home on Kilcronan Close just before midnight.

Although not known as a major criminal, the man has a long list of convictions for crimes including drug possession, burglary, theft, larceny, drink- driving and possession of a knife.

It is believed at this early stage that his death is the result of a local feud or row over money or drugs, but a full investigation will be carried out be gardai to establish the motive.

The victim was shot four times, including once in the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A garda spokesman confirmed: "Officers are at the scene of a shooting in Kilcronin, Clondalkin.

The gun attack was the second fatal shooting to take place in Dublin in the space of a few hours.

The shooting came just hours after the murder of a dissident republican at the Sunset House pub in Dublin's north inner city.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal shooting in Clondalkin but it is understood that it is not connected to the earlier incident
