Low-budget airline Ryanair has announced a further seven routes from Belfast International airport this year.

The news comes as another boost to the airport which has gone from strength-to-strength in recent months.

The routes are Berlin, Malaga, Alicante, Milan, Krakow, Tenerife and Lanzarote.

Chief Executive  of Belfast International, Graham Keddie, said: "This new route network comes at no cost to the taxpayer or support from the government."

He added that the Berlin and Milan routes were a breakthrough into the lucrative German and Italian markets.

“To say we’re delighted with this expansion would be an under-statement," he added.

“This sector is being transformed for the better. Seven new international routes are a wonderful vote of confidence by Ryanair.

“Already, we’ve announced close to 300 new jobs which will generate £4.8m in wages, but that’s just the beginning of an amazing period of growth and expansion that will be the inevitable consequence of this most welcome announcement.”
