RTE broadcaster Ryan Tubridy has called for child sex offenders to be permanently ‘fixed’ as he blasted short sentences for paedophiles.

During a discussion on his Radio One show yesterday about the six-and-a-half year jail sentence for a man who raped his two step daughters, Tubridy said sex offenders need to be jailed for longer.

“The man got put away for six-and-a-half years. I can’t image what it’s a lot of time. I think sometimes people need to be put away for a very, very, very long time and not just put away,” the broadcaster fumed.

“I think I’d go further than that, I think sometimes things need to be don’t to people to fix them forever.”

He also praised the bravery of Paterson’s victims who waived their right to anonymity so he could be named publicly.

“How they have had the courage to stand up in the public and talk about it is breathtaking.”
