Revenue and Gardai seize large quantity of cannabis in Dublin

The new mobile scanner used by Revenue has nabbed a large quantity of cannabis at Dublin Port.

The haul, which was discovered on Friday, June 30, was only made public today.

According to the Revenue, the mobile scanner was deployed to check a haulage vehicle that had arrived into Ireland containing farm machinery


Cannabis valued at €730,000 was discovered concealed within the farm machinery.  

Follow-up searches were subsequently conducted in the Moneygall area of Tipperary and today Gardaí arrested a man aged 52 on suspicion of drug trafficking.

He is currently detained at Nenagh Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996.
