Reports: Music legend Prince dies at age of 57
The musical superstar’s body was discovered today at his studio in Paisley Park, Minnesota, USA, according to several reports.
The body 57-year-old singer Prince was discovered at his home in Minnesota on Thursday morning, according to TMZ and several sources online.
The seven-time Grammy winner performed at the Super Bowl in 2007.
He also sold more than 100 million records during his career. He also won an Oscar for Best Original Song Score for Purple Rain in 1985.
The musician was recently struck down with a nasty case of the flu, which prompted a plane Prince was travelling on to make an emergency landing in Illinois last Friday morning.
The superstar was heading home from a show in Atlanta, Georgia when he was taken ill and he instructed the pilot of his private jet to touch down and get him to the hospital.
The plane landed at Quad City International Airport in Moline just after 1am local time, and Prince was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where he was treated and released hours later.
At the time, a representative for the Purple Rain singer assured fans the 57-year-old was feeling much better.
A source told TMZ that the singer has been fighting the flu for several weeks and cancelled two shows on April 7.
He fell ill just before taking the stage in Atlanta last Thursday night but insisted on continuing with the performance. Singers Janelle Monae and Judith Hill were in the audience cheering Prince on as he performed while quite sick at the Fox Theatre.
