Investigation launched following deaths of two babies in Irish Hospital
The deaths of two babies in Cavan General Hospital just two days apart are now under investigation.
The first death occurred on Wednesday and the second on Sunday morning.
The baby died on Wednesday following a Caesarean section.
The review is to examine if there was a delay in delivering the baby and whether this contributed to the death.
A second death happened on Sunday morning and this is also understood to be under review.
Staffing levels at the hospital are to be probed as part of the investigation.
The maternity unit has suffered a number of baby deaths in recent years which are under review.
