Gardai at Ronanstown Garda Station are investigating reports that a group of prison officers narrowly avoided injury after a car sped towards them and tried to hit them as they left Cloverhill Prison last Thursday.

As around a dozen officers were leaving work on that evening on their way to the car park a vehicle apparently sped towards them and swerved into a bollard right beside them as the driver hurled insults out the window.

Luckily the officers escaped unharmed, but the potential for injury was evident, and the staff were reportedly shaken after the incident.

The car reversed away and drove away from the scene at Cloverhill Road.

Gardai are investigating the incident.
