The priest who will officiate at Edddie Hutch's funeral tomorrow has said that the Hutch family 'want this to stop'.

Fr Richard Ebejer has said that he has spoken to the Hutch family ahead of the funeral - and that they want the spate of violence to end.

"In the course of the conversation, they were very clear that they want this to stop," he said.

"We pray that those involved will heed the call. The spiral of violence and revenge will lead nowhere," he said.

Fr Ebejer also officiated at the funeral Mass of Gary Hutch last October, after he was shot dead in Spain.

Last night, Eddie Hutch's body was released back to the family and scores of armed gardai were on hand in case any violence occurred as the coffin was brought to the home of a relative on Portland Row in Dublin's north inner city.
