Post mortem to be conducted on man's body in Limerick
The State Pathologist is to conduct a post mortem this afternoon on the body of a man found in a house in Limerick overnight.
The man, aged in his early 30s, was discovered unconscious on the ground floor of a house on Hyde Road at around 8pm.
The man was found by the occupant of the house who contacted the emergency services. An ambulance rushed the man to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Gardai said this morning they have sealed off the house for a forensic examination and are awaiting the results of a post mortem before deciding on the path of their investigation.
"We are waiting for the post mortem to establish the cause of death," a Garda source said.
Gardai said they are keeping an open mind as to how the man died.
Professor Marie Cassidy will conduct a post mortem at midday, and results will not not be known until around 4pm this afternoon.
Roxboro Road gardai are investigating and can be contacted on 061-214340.
