The identity of an Irishman discovered on the shores of a beach in the UK has been released by police.

Authorities have identified him as Dublin man Morgan Savage (40).

Mr Savage was last seen at Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, East Sussex, at around 4pm on September 8, where he was described to have had an Irish accent.

His body was subsequently discovered after washing up on Yaverland Beach, Sandown, on the Isle of Wight.

A post mortem, which carried out on September 24, proved inconclusive.

The coroner is awaiting histology results, a police spokesperson said.

Yesterday, police said the man's next-of-kin had been located and informed of his death.
