A police station in West Belfast has been evacuated after a man threw a 'rucksack' at it.

One man has been detained by police.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The Stewartstown Road in west Belfast has been closed at its junctions with Blacks Road and Suffolk Road as police examine a suspicious object at Woodbourne police station. Motorists should seek an alternative route. There are no further details at present."

In 2013 children picked up an unexploded pipe bomb which was thrown at the station, bringing it to the front door. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
