Second death in County Tyrone village flats in weeks

The police are investigating the sudden death of a man at a flat in Coagh, County Tyrone.

The 36-year-old man, named locally as Darren Taylor, was found on Monday .

Last month, a 21-year-old Cookstown woman, Amy Reid, died in the same block of flats.

Two men arrested after Amy’s death were later released on bail.

 Tragic: Amy Reid

In a statement, a PSNI spokesperson said: “A post mortem will take place in due course to determine the cause of death.

“There are no further details at present.”

DUP MLA, Keith Buchanan, said: "This is very sad news today and my thoughts are with the family of the male.

"His death is thought to have been drugs-related, which is truly shocking news for the entire community. This news comes after the recent death of a young female in Coagh, which was also drugs-related."

SDLP MLA, Patsy McGlone, said: "People will be absolutely stunned by another death that police are linking to drugs in the same flat in the same village.

"Police have had their successes in seizing drugs and money in the Cookstown area but now we need more people to come forward and say who is dealing in death."
