Police in the Australian city of Melbourne have appealed to the public there for their assistance in tracing two Irish individuals involved in a serious assault.

Victoria Police are looking for two men “with Irish accents” after a vicious assault which was caught on camera.

The victim was walking along the Princes Bridge with a friend when he was punched and kicked by two men around 12.30am on St Patrick’s night.

The shocking incident occurred on St Patrick's Day earlier in the year in the Melbourne suburb of Southbank.

Police have released images of the two individuals, and have also appealed to two women whom they believe may be able to assist them in their enquiries.

One man is described as Caucasian, around 183cm tall, aged in his early 20s, of medium build, short black hair and who appears to be wearing a Dublin jersey.

The second man is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, and was wearing a white t-shirt and green shorts.

In the shocking video, the individual in the blue jersey is seen repeatedly kicking one of the victims as he lies on the ground.
