Gallery: Pictures from last night's suspected explosives find in Dublin
Two men are still being held following the discovery of suspected explosives in a car travelling towards Dublin city on the Naas road last night.
It is believed that the two men were carrying six bags of suspected explosives when they were stopped by gardai.
The car they were travelling in was stopped on the Naas Road, inbound just before the Long Mile Road junction, yesterday evening at around 7.30pm.
Memebers of the garda Emergency Response Unit brought the car to a halt as it was travelling towards Dublin city on the busy roadway.
The car is believed to have contained explosives (subject to forensic examination).
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were at scene last night, examining the contents of the vehicle.
Two men, one in his early 30s and one in his early 40s, were arrested at the scene.
They are currently being detained at Ballyfermot and Ronanstown garda stations under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
