A baby and young children feature in Carlow county council's striking campaign on dog fouling.

The extremely graphic images are part of an effort by the council to deter dog fouling in the county.

The 'Pick it up or I will' slogan intends to emphasise to dog owners what can happen if they fail to clean up after their pet.

The campaign is fronted by local wheelchair user Peter Nolan and visually impaired woman Karen Kealy.

"Peter has completely opened our eyes in terms of just how difficult it is for him to deal with dog fouling on his wheels, which ultimately ends up all over his hands," stated Janette O'Brien, an environmental awareness officer with the council.

Ms O'Brien also told the Carlow Nationalist: "Not only is he facing risk of disease but also a loss of personal dignity.

"The campaign has been organised by Carlow county council to raise awareness and make people realise the full consequences of their actions."
