Person killed in collision after car catches fire and hits wall

A body was removed from a car that collided with a wall after catching fire in Lismore, Co Waterford, yesterday evening.

Gardai in Lismore are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on the N72 at Ballygalane, Lower Lismore, Co Waterford at around 18.30 yesterday.

A car collided with a wall after it went on fire. 

A body was removed from the car and was taken to Waterford University Hospital. 

No further details of the deceased, age or gender, are available as the body has not been positively identified.

There was a sole occupant of the car.
The stretch of road where the crash occurred was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
