Pensioner killed after being struck by a lorry

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that claimed the life of a pensioner in Tipperary today.

The collision occurred at Townspark, Carrick-on-Suir on the Limerick to Waterford Road (N24) at approximately 1pm.

A  female, believed to be in her early 70s, was struck by a lorry when crossing the road.

She was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene, her remains are still at the scene. 

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place. It is expected that the road will remain closed for a number of hours.
