Pedestrian killed in early morning accident

A man in his 20s was struck by a van and killed in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred on the Tullow to Ballon Road in the townland of Ardristan, in Tullow, Co Carlow, at 5am this morning.

The pedestrian, who is as yet unidentified, is described as being in his mid-20's, over 6 ft in height, well built and with short red hair.

His body has been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.

The road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision investigators are at scene and local diversions are in place.
