Pedestrian killed in collision on Finglas road

A man was killed early this morning after being struck by a car on the N2 Finglas.

A male pedestrian was killed at 3am this morning after being hit by a car on a Dublin road.

The fatal collision occurred early this morning, inbound on the N2 Finglas dual carriageway, when a car collided with the man.

He was was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai have not established the identity the pedestrian at this stage.

His body removed to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was uninjured in the collision.

The stretch of road where the incident occurred is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

The road is expected to open shortly after 10am this morning.
