Pedestrian killed after being struck by car in early hours


A pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a car in the early hours of the morning in Wicklow.

Gardaí say they are investigating the collision which happened on the Coolgreany Road in Arklow, Co.Wicklow at about 2.20am today.

According to gardai the pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 40s, was fatally injured when he was struck by a car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to St. Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardai have confirmed the driver of the car was not injured in the collision.

The road where the crash happened is closed pending an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
