Over three inches of rain forecast for parts of Ireland before Sunday afternoon
Met Eireann have issued an Orange Warning for certain counties today as they forecast up to 80mm (3.1 inches) of rain to fall in some areas before 3pm on Sunday.
The counties affected are Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.
The warning covers from 3am today to 3pm tomorrow and Met Eireann say that heavy rain will elad to accumulations of between 40mm and 60mm generally across those counties.
However, hills and mountains could see between 60mm and 80mm of rain in that time.
Met Eireann define a 'heavy precipitation day' as 'a day on which 10mm or more rainfall is recorded' so the rain forecast for the next 24 hours in those counties is well above normal.
Other counties don't escape either.
A Yellow warning has been issued for Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
They will all see rain of between 25mm and 35mm over the 36 hour period covered, with some areas expected to get up to 45mm.
