A two-vehicle crash in Co Kildare last night resulted in the death of a man in his 20s.

Gardai in Kilcock are investigating a two-vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the R407 (Clane to Kilcock Rd) near Baltracey at approximately 11.30pm last night.

A male in his 20s was fatally injured when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a truck.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Naas Hospital.

He was the sole occupant of the car.

The driver of the truck was taken to Blanchardstown Hospital, with what are described as minor injuries.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

The collision is the second of two crashes that occurred last night which resulted in death, after a 42-year-old man died following a Co Meath incident yesterday evening.
