Nurse at Central Mental Hospital 'strangled with a sock'
A patient at the Central mental Hospital is reported to have attacked a male nurse, strangling him with a sock.
Today's Sun reports that the staff member is lucky to be alive after the incident in which the patient grabbed the nurse by the neck and tried to strangle him with a sock.
The report goes on to say the staff member managed to free themselves before calling for back up from other employees of the facility.
The incident, which is said to have taken place in the bathroom area of the south Dublin facility, happened after the patient had been to the on-site gym.
Gardai were reportedly called over the incident and an investigation is underway.
