Tragedy as child killed after being struck by car in Derry

A two-year-old child has died after being struck by a car in Derry.

The tragedy happened at around 1.15pm.

The boy was struck by a silver Citroen Picasso car on the Lone Moor Road.

The police say that enquiries are currently ongoing and the driver has been spoken to.

The road is currently closed.

Inspector David McIlwaine has appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information which could assist police with their enquiries to contact Strand Road on 101.
